Edie Berke is a senior who was a staff member of The Musket last year and is a staff member of The Powderhorn this year. She is Co-President of the Watauga Book Club, a STEMkids member, an NHS member, and a second-year Playmaker. She enjoys reading, embroidery, and practicing martial arts outside of school. She is excited to join a team that values truth and informing the public, and she is looking forward to exploring her potential as a writer.

Reflecting on the Past and Looking to the Future with Ms. Sarah Miller
Watauga’s school culture has always owed much to the theater department. Between the annual musical and the numerous class plays, there is something theater-related happening all year long. One person who makes this possible is Ms. Sarah Miller, one of the two theater teachers. Between her thirty years of teaching in North Carolina and her twenty years at Watauga, she has become a fixture of the school and guided the theater department toward being the organized, well-oiled machine it is today.

The Winter Warrior: An Herbal Tea Review
January is well-known as one of the coldest months in the High Country. As winter sets into Watauga County, it brings with it a host of problems, including plummeting temperatures, seasonal depression, and increased illness due to close proximity. Luckily, most people have the perfect weapon to combat these issues right in their cupboards: herbal tea. This seemingly simple drink, as well as being delicious and warming you up, carries a long list of health benefits.
