ABOUT US
The Powderhorn is the official newspaper of Watauga High School, Watauga Innovation Academy, and the Watauga Virtual Acadamy. Our staff creates wonderful pieces focusing on the things happening at the school, local, state, national, and even international levels. To stay updated on the stories written by our fabulous staff, be sure to subscribe so you will be notified each time we post a new story. Subscribe by using the form at the bottom of the page. STAFF
ROSALYN RABINOWITZ
Editor-in-cheif
Roz Rabinowitz is a Senior and a third year member of The Powderhorn, serving as the Editor-in-Chief. She is the DECA Co-President, Pacer Captain, serves on AFG leadership, a competitive gymnast, and the Board Of Education Student Representative. She also participates in service based clubs such as Interact and NHS. Roz is committed to serving and informing the student body through her work with the staff of The Powderhorn.
ANDREW LARSON
Podcast Desk Lead
Andrew Larsen is a second year student on The Powderhorn who runs the Podcast desk. He is the president of Political Pioneers, History club, and a co-president of Model UN. He plays piano, reads obsessively, codes video games, and plays with his cats in his free time. He loves to write history papers for essay competitions such as National History Day, and loves to cover current events, politics, and history.
BRAYDEN HOWARD
Sports Desk Lead
Brayden Howard is the Sports Desk lead and is in his second year of working for The Powderhorn. He plays lacrosse in the spring, and is also an active member of the Political Pioneers club and Mountain Alliance. Outside of school he spends his time reading, writing, and spending time outdoors.
ANNA TRAN
Staff writer for The Powderhorn
Anna Tran is a Sophomore at Watauga High School, and this is her first year as a staff writer for The Powderhorn. She is the Asian Culture Club President, Social Media Coordinator for Design Club, Link Crew Leader, and she also serves as an active member of many other clubs, such as DECA, FCA, and Interact. Outside of school, she is involved in her church's non-profit youth organization.
ZADIE MEIER SERVON
Staff writer for The Powderhorn
Zadie Meier Servon is a first year student on The Powderhorn. She is a soccer player who is also involved in Mountain Alliance, Envirothon and Vice President of PAW Club. Outside of school she likes to read and hike.
MERRITT POWELL
Staff writer for The Powderhorn
Merritt Powell is a first year staff writer for The Powderhorn and a member of Watauga10. At the school she participates in cross country, track, and swim. She is also a part of STEM kids, Sustainability Club, and Model United Nations. Outside of school she is on the club swim team and likes to read and cook.
SITA COOPER
Staff writer for The Spark
Sita Cooper is a Senior and first year member of The Spark. She is a part of the mountain biking team and participates in the spring musical at Watauga High School. In addition to this, she is also the NAHS secretary. In her spare time she likes to read, make jewelry, and write poetry.
ZOE CRITCHER
Staff writer for The Spark
Zoe Critcher is a Senior and first year staff member on The Spark. She is part of the swim and track teams at the high school. She is also part of the yearbook staff, Model UN, NSTEM, and STEMkids. She loves reading, hiking, painting, and spending time outside with her dogs.
KEATYN WUEST
Watauga10 staff
Keatyn Wuest is a Senior and a first-year staff member on Watauga10. She is the Student Council student body vice president, plays women’s soccer, is a DECA member, and is also on the Yearbook staff. Aside from school commitments, Keatyn enjoys going on walks at the greenway, baking, and spending time at coffee shops.

Watauga10 staff
Sarah Grace is a first year staff member on Watauga10. She works as a Marketing/Media Intern at Beech Mountain Resort and is an active member in NHS, NAHS, design club, and Interact. She also is on the Student Leadership Team for FCA.
CARRIE BRADBURY
Assistant Editor and Review Desk Lead
Carrie Bradbury is the Assistant Editor, review desk lead, and a third-year staff writer on The Powderhorn. She participates in cross country and track. She is also a member of NHS, NSTEMHS, and STEMKids. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking with friends and spending time outside.
ISAAC JAMES
Community Desk Lead
Isaac James is a Senior, a second-year member, and the Community Desk lead of The Powderhorn. He runs cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. He is also a member of NHS, Asian Language Club, and the Japanese National Honor Society. Outside of school he enjoys spending his time reading, running, studying history, and watching the Premier League on the weekends. He is excited to write meaningful stories and inform the student body.
AMELIA BENNETT
Staff writer and translator
Amelia Bennett is a first-year staff member on The Powderhorn and a Spanish translator. She plays for the Watauga and High Country Soccer teams and is an athlete on the Watauga Swim Team. She is also the secretary of NHS, a member of French Honors Society and NAHS, and is part of the Watauga Yearbook staff. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, mountain biking, and doing art of any kind.
ELLEN JONES

Elle Jones is a Sophomore and a first year staff writer for the Powderhorn. Here at the high school she is involved with Journalism, Yearbook, and Young Women's Christian Outreach. Outside of school she competes in gymnastics and does Jiu Jitsu.
SOPHIA STULL
Staff writer for The Powderhorn
Sophia Stull is a Sophomore at Watauga High School, and this is her first year serving on The Powderhorn as a staff writer. She is a member of FCA, Stem Kids, and the Watauga Women's soccer team. Outside of school, she participates in Appalachian FC Academy, her church's youth group, and she also enjoys spending time with friends.
SELAH GREER
Editor-in-chief of The Spark
Selah Greer is a Senior and has been a member of The Spark for three years. She enjoys exploring different cultures and learning about history, and is Co-President of Model United Nations and a student representative on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. She loves to read, write poetry, take photos, and hike in her free time.
WILLA SIBLEY
Staff writer for The Spark
Willa Sibley is a Senior and this is her first year being on The Spark. She is also in yearbook, a captain on the lacrosse team, and a member of French Honors Society and National Art Honors Society. She loves photography, ceramics, and hiking.
DAWSON HUNT
Co-editor-in-chief of Watauga10
Dawson Hunt is a Senior and on his second year of being a Watauga10 staff member. He serves as Co-Editor-in-chief of Watauga10 and the documentaries desk lead for The Powderhorn. He is a member of the media team at Cornerstone Summit Church, and is also a member of Watauga High School’s DECA and NHS chapters.

Ellie Hege is a Senior and is a first-year staff member on Watauga10. She is a three-year member of Yearbook and serves as the Editor-in-Chief. She is the Co-President of the DECA Chapter and head of Best Buddies. She is on the school basketball team and is an active member of NHS, AFG, and a Link Crew Leader.
SEBASTIAN MIRANDA CASTRO
Watauga10 staff
Sebastian Miranda-Castro is a Junior at Watauga High School. This is his first year on Watauga10 as a member of the media team focusing on photography and videography. He is a part of WHS Men’s Soccer, DECA, AFG, and other clubs.
ASPEN HICKMAN
Junior Editor and News Desk Lead
Aspen Hickman is a Junior and second year staff member, News Desk Lead, and Junior Editor for The Powderhorn. They are also a second year Playmaker and active member of Watauga’s theater department. Outside of school, Aspen enjoys writing, cooking, and making graphs.

Features Desk Lead
Ian Biles is a Senior and third-year staff member on The Powderhorn who runs the Features Desk. He is a lacrosse athlete and a section leader in the WHS band program. Outside of school, he hikes, collects records, and cooks.
VIVI KAUFMAN

Vivi Kaufman is a Sophomore and a first year staff writer for The Powderhorn. She plays on the women’s golf team and is social media manager for WHS paw club. Outside of school she likes to read, draw, and go hiking.
JONAH PEARSON
Staff writer for The Powderhorn
Jonah Pearson is a first-year member of The Powderhorn and a Sophomore at Watauga. He runs cross country in the fall and outdoor track in the spring. Outside of school he enjoys snowboarding, climbing, running, hiking, and spending time outside. Jonah is excited to commit time to write interesting and informative stories for the Watauga community and student body.
MARINA BROWN
Staff writer for The Powderhorn
Marina Brown is a first year staff writer on The Powderhorn. At the high school, she participates in journalism and Skills USA, and is known for being outgoing, curious, and interested in learning about science and health. Outside of school, she enjoys fitness, dabbling in a variety of instruments, reading, podcasts, and creative outlets such as painting, watercolor, and journaling.
KATHERINE HEMRICK

Katherine Hemrick is a Junior and a two year member of The Spark. She is a three year player on the women's lacrosse team and enjoys ceramics, film photography, and reading.
VALENTINA MIRANDA CASTRO
Staff writer for The Spark
Valentina Miranda-Castro is a Sophomore and this is her first year on The Spark staff. She is involved in the Watauga High School Orchestra, Women’s Basketball, STEM Kids, and Battle Of the Books. Outside of school, she loves trying new foods, spending time with her family, and watching sports.
ALEXANDER GONZALES SILVA
Co-editor-in-chief of Watauga10
Alex is a Senior and is entering his second year on staff serving as the co-editor-in-chief of Watauga10 and the Spanish Desk Lead for The Powderhorn. Alex is also involved in clubs such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, DECA, and Athletes for Good. Outside of school, Alex is always either at a coffee shop, the gym, or out filming a Watauga sport.
LUKE EVERETT
Watauga10 staff
Luke Everett is a first year staff member on Watauga10. He is a year-round athlete playing football and indoor/outdoor track, and a part of the media team at Cornerstone Summit Church.
