Roz Rabinowitz is a Junior and a 2nd year member of The Powderhorn, serving as the Junior Editor. She is the DECA VP of leadership, a pacer officer, a competitive gymnast, and the Board of Education Student Representative. She also participates in clubs such as Interact, WSJI, NHS, AFG, Sustainability club, and Model UN. Roz is excited to write stories that inform and entertain the student body. Roz also wants to focus on helping her community flourish.

School Board Meeting Summary - January 12, 2026
The monthly school board meeting was Monday, January 12. These meetings often cover accomplishments of students and staff throughout the County, and the Board passes policies that directly affect the Watauga County school system. After the normal opening session, call to order, and moment of silence, the meeting began with Dr. Leslie Alexander presenting her Superintendent's report.

Jesamyn Ward is a highly decorated fiction author, but “Men We Reaped” is different. It is a true story, her story. “Men We Reaped” is Ward's memoir, her conveying to the world how she grew up, with whom, and how the death of 5 young black men she shared close relationships with affected her.

Cali Townsend's Race Towards Victory and Her Future
Running on a scenic trail with trees, flowers, and grass for 3.1 miles. Lungs and legs are dying, but hundreds of athletes keep running. Those athletes continue to preserve because this is cross country.
