Watauga High School’s 2024 Spring Musical is coming to life at Watauga High school this year from April 18-20. After four long and tedious months of preparation, the cast is ready to show off their hard work to the school and other guests from all over the county.

The musical is set in River City, a small town in Iowa. Life is forever changed for the locals when traveling salesman, Professor Harold Hill, comes to town. Hill advertises himself as the “Music Man,” a man who travels from town to town, bringing music to life in places of desperate need. However, there is more than meets the eye with the “Music Man.”

The Music Man has a fast-paced and catchy rhythm to it.  Out of all of the beautiful and enticing numbers the ensemble performs, there are a couple main ones you should look out for.

The first musical number you should keep an eye open for is ‘Ya Got Trouble’. This song is most definitely one of the most catchy and enticing numbers of the musical. When you hear this song, the beat captivates you with its repetitive rhyming rhythm. The beat is enchanting, and will immediately have you bouncing your knee along.

If perfectly coordinated and enticingly mysterious songs are your jam, then you will not want to miss out on "Marian The Librarian." Many of the Music Man’s cast members have cast their vote on which number is the best, and this one is definitely at the top. Books being tossed across stage, extremely difficult dances: you name it, this number has it!

Another thrilling number, performed in the second act of the musical  is "Shipoopi." The ensemble has worked for months and months to perfect this number, and they have most definitely succeeded. "Shipoopi" is absolutely riveting, with beautiful choreography and an upbeat rhythm to it. This number is one you certainly don’t want to miss.

4 months of tedious and exhausting work has certainly paid off in"The Music Man."  Every member of the ensemble's extreme dedication is so beautifully shown through every song , line, and dance. "The Music Man" is an event you certainly don’t want to miss.
