Design Club is Watauga’s newest club! Started by Savannah Duvall and sponsored by Hannah Massey, the club focuses on all aspects of design and is welcoming new members. Members of the club have the opportunity to learn and experience design through various projects, including local designers speaking to members about their careers and a tour of App State’s design department.

Savannah created this club to support students who are interested in design but aren’t in Watauga’s design classes.

“I wanted to start the club because I love all types of design and would love to be an interior designer one day. There were no existing clubs related to design, and this club also allows students who cannot take all of the elective design classes to build portfolios and gain experience,” said Duvall, sophomore.

The club advisor, Hannah Massey, admires Duvall’s dedication to one of her passions and credits her completely for the creation of the club. She hopes to continue increasing club membership.

“[Duvall] advocated for this club to exist! She's led all meetings and made everything happen up to this point,” said Massey.

While the club is design-focused, anyone can join the club, and no background in design is required.

“Students can join by simply attending the meetings, and from there, we will send them an interest form,” said Duvall. “We will plan on meeting in the morning in Ms. Irving’s room the first and third Fridays of every month.”

The club has an Instagram account where they post updates and information about club affairs. There is also a QR posted that takes students to an interest form for joining the club.
