"This Too Shall Pass" a poem by Julia McKinney

This Too Shall Pass

Pine trees

Sway in the breeze

You've been wondering

How some stand

My hands are cracked

I keep the stories in the

Back shed

Back of my head

Life's a hurricane

And we’re caught in the storm

My heart has been torn

Weathered and worn

You've seen it

You've seen through it too

I’m looking at my life

Through a window

And my eyes are swollen

And teary

But there's no rest for the

Weak

No rest for the

Weary

So will you walk with me?

Will you run with me?

When the air gets colder

And when we all get older

I see it in your face

You see it in mine

So you can make money

But you can’t make time

So make the best with

What we've got

Because what's gone is gone

What's lost is lost
