Artist of the Week: Sita Cooper

Mitch Jasper, Staff Member of The Spark

Sita Cooper is a talented jewelry designer/maker at Watauga Highschool who is very committed to her craft. Cooper was taught how to make jewelry by her grandma when she was just 5.

"It was something that me and her would do together, she had been making jewelry for a while and she would get beads that I could use when I was little and teach me how to make necklaces," said Cooper. S

She first started making jewelry on her own when she was 11 with materials given to her by her same grandma.

Eventually, after making jewelry for her and her friends for years she decided to make this a business.

"I got inspired to make it a business because I really enjoy making jewelry and I had a lot of people telling me that I should sell it. I would look on Pinterest for ideas for a while and to learn how to make certain things," said Cooper. "And then I would create my own things with what I had learned."

She sells her jewelry under a local store BlueBird, as well as selling stuff under her own small business called Simply Sita.

“The butterfly earrings are probably the hardest ones to make, but I love them, and I just love the color of the rings and I love making them,” said Cooper.

Cooper says she hopes to continue to make jewelry after high school,
