Student Council arranged for food trucks at this year's tailgating event including an ice cream and a crafted soda truck. In addition, the Foods class provided burger trays.
The cancellation of this year’s Homecoming dance was difficult to hear for the student body. However, the Student Council planned the biggest Homecoming week so far.
“Since the Homecoming dance was cancelled, we focused on making everything leading up to the game bigger and better than ever,” said Brittany Wood, faculty advisor.
Last week was packed with student events to make it one of the most unforgettable Homecoming weeks yet, including spirit days every day of the week, where students could dress up and express their school spirit.
“We hoped to have our biggest turnout yet for the student events during the week, such as Powderpuff Football, King of Court, and Men’s Cheerleading,” said Wood.
As well as these events, the football game on Friday was one of the most well-attended so far, including a pregame tailgate with loads of activities.
“We added more elements to the pre-game tailgate that we thought the student body would enjoy,” said Wood. “The tailgate featured Watauga High School Alumni Adam Church as our live musician. We incorporated more items such as face painting, bouncy houses, and games to make it fun for the whole family. There was food available for people to buy and even an ice cream truck for dessert. The tailgate also consisted of a cornhole tournament that the students can participate in for a cash prize.”
Last week was a huge success. The event packed week brought the student body together celebrating the Watauga Homecoming Traditions that are special and unique to the Community.
“Homecoming is about bringing everyone together!” stated Wood. “We just want to celebrate Watauga High School and the community that supports us.”
