“Twisters”, the stand-alone sequel of the 1996 film, was released this past summer and quickly became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year. Starring Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones, “Twisters” sparked several exciting trends for the media. Not only did the film’s production allure, but the soundtrack—featuring a variety of hit artists—also became the album of the summer. With its high-quality cinematography and musical complements, “Twisters” left a lasting impression on both film enthusiasts and casual viewers alike.

In the first month and a half of its release, “Twisters”  brought in nearly 259.6 million dollars in the United States and Canada alone. This success can be accredited to Director Lee Issac Chung’s artful talents, creating a captivating motion picture that reels in viewers through various key elements.

As a sequel, this story already had a reliable plot to build upon. Chung took it a step further with stunning visuals throughout the film. From swirling tornados to serene landscapes, this film created a perfect balance between excitement and calm.

Another reason this film created such a buzz in the media is because of the wonderful cast who managed to bring it to life. Lead male actor, Glen Powell blew the audience away with his bright persona and cowboy charisma while playing Tyler Owens. Fans were excited to see Powell take on a role that was slightly different than his usual appearances.

Lead actress Daisy Edgar Jones fulfilled her role as Kate Carter, showcasing her exceptional talent and passion while acting. After her previous summer blockbuster “Where The Crawdads Sing” two years earlier, Edgar-Jones was able to flawlessly execute her role as another character with a similar personality to Kate. Despite the similarities between the two characters, Edgar-Jones was able to distinguish the two with unique traits.

Lastly, one of the biggest attention drawers to the movie was the soundtrack that came along with it. With 29 songs and nearly 30 featured artists, the album caught the attention of music lovers from all different music tastes. The songs were widely shared which attracted great publicity for the film itself.

“Twisters” did not disappoint in its aim to add a fun and exciting spin to our summer watchlist. The film upholds its remarkable legacy with impressive visual effects and suspenseful, high-stakes scenes, raising the bar for the film industry as a whole.
