Students write a poem inspired by the theme "Fall" at The Spark's October Poetry Night at Venture on King. The mentor text for the October Poetry Night was "Samhain" by Annie Finch, a poem about autumn, a time when "we who die ourselves can peel / back another kind of veil / that hangs among us like thick smoke."

Seasons

By Carrie Bradbury

In the fall,

Not only the leaves change

Bur so do ones spirits

There is a swift breeze in the air

That rustles ones feathers

And tousles their hair

In the winter,

Death looms and plants doom

The day that they eventually fade away

The air is crisp

And flakes fall

But winter is not like fall at all

In the spring,

Blooms of color return

Birth from brush

A becoming rising our of what

was lost

The cost of it all unknown

For no matter now beautiful

the color

Fall will come again

And smother the world in brown.
