The Summit, Boone’s brand new pickle ball court complex, opened this past September and has since gained a hefty following. The center provides 6 indoor courts that are available 7 days a week for guests and members alike to play one of the biggest sports in America.

Bryce Williams, a son of one of the co-owners at The Summit and a freshman here at Watauga High School, finds it exciting to watch a young business grow.

“Being close to The Summit is really interesting because I got to see the business be built from the ground up,” Williams said. “Everyone in my family contributed to the place, and it really consumed a lot of my dad's time.”

Jennings Morgan, whose father is a sponsor of The Summit, loves playing at The Summit often.

“The Summit has been an enjoyable experience for me, especially the welcoming community,” Morgan said. “Even if it may be empty on some days, it is still kept upright for anyone to come and enjoy!”

One of the Summit’s main goals is to provide more availability and better playing conditions to the growing pickleball community in Boone.

“My dad first got the idea for The Summit when he was playing pickleball on the Rec Center courts,” Williams said. “He thought that Boone’s pickleball community needed better indoor courts than just ones on basketball courts.”

Morgan is a big fan of The Summit’s hospitality towards guests.

“My favorite part of the Summit is the good service,” Morgan said. “They offer snacks and microwaves so you can practically get or bring whatever you want!”

Pickleball is booming across America and there never seems to be enough pickleball courts in many communities. The Summit provides an easily accessible, people-friendly environment for anyone, from newbies to pros, to enjoy. Overall, The Summit is a fantastic place to pursue and discover new hobbies right here in Watauga County!
