Day 1: "Aurora Borealis" a poem by Bailey Reece

Updated: Dec 1, 2023

Aurora Borealis

Greens and blues and purples and pinks

Shimmer and dance along the frost-laden sky.

They sing in a wondrous key

Casting their magic across a snow-blanketed world.

People watch the heavenly lights in awe,

Amazed at how beautiful nature can be.

The lights flow through the night like a river,

Spilling and meandering across the sky.

Nature’s greatest light show performs for all,

Darkness set ablaze by the ribbons of color

As if the sky itself is on fire.

Colored flames lick away the night,

The show comes to a close at daybreak

But Aurora Borealis shall return again once her stage is empty.

-Bailey Reece, sophomore
