Change

By Katherine Hemrick

Change is intimate.

It shapes you and sculpts you

Into a form you never saw coming.

It catches you by surprise,

Grabbing hold of what you could have sworn was permanent.

It shows you to learn to be okay.

It teaches you to

Let go.

If you’re not careful,

You will become a historian studying

Your past,

Unaware of what you have right in front of you.

You must take change by the hand

As it carves through both your heart and mind.

You will be renewed.

You will not be the same forever.

Change is here,

Welcome it with open arms.
