Keatyn Wuest is a talented artist who utilizes many different art processes in her masterpieces, such as pen and ink, watercolor, acrylic, and collage. From a young age, Wuest loved the artistic process and art was a part of her many creative endeavors.
"I originally started painting when I would illustrate short books I wrote when I was younger, " said Wuest. "And I’ve loved making art since."
Art has not only been a hobby for Wuest, but has become part of her identity over the years.
"I think the most important thing about art to me is that it’s truly mine and it reflects who I am. I always try to use my art as a way to convey my personality and values to others, and it feels so good knowing I successfully did so,” said Wuest.
The vulnerability and expression found in painting has never intimidated Wuest. Rather, she loves the opportunity her art gives her to illustrate who she is and what she cares about.
"It’s an awesome feeling to know that people can see my art and know more about me as a person and what I love," said Wuest.
While she enjoys many forms of visual art, a few stand out to Wuest as her favorite.
"I really love water coloring," said Wuest. "But the easiest is always drawing because I can draw pretty much anywhere with so many random materials.
Wuest plans to continue developing her talents through the many art programs Watauga has to offer. Her goal is not only to improve, but to enjoy the artistic process. Art is not just the act of creation for Wuest, but a way to achieve self-expression and connection with the world around her.
"I just try to keep progressing and really enjoy my art. I feel it can be easy to run out of time in the day, but having a constant urge to create something really helps,” said Wuest.
