Iyla Freed, our 4th Artist of the Week, is a junior at Watauga High School. She has been in all of the WHS choirs and is a current AdioVaux member.
Freed has been singing for as long as she can remember.
“My family has always played lots of music and my dad was always introducing me to people I wanted to be like,” said Freed.
Music plays a major role in Freed’s life, beyond singing she also plays the piano, guitar and banjo. While learning the guitar, the “Beatles” became a big inspiration for her.
“I first started to fall in love with the Beatles and taught myself every song while learning the guitar. It sparked my love for finding music I wanted to play,” said Freed.
Outside of school Freed continues to pursue music with her family having even played at some small venues and participating in multiple competitions. Freed believes music plays an important part in connecting people.
“Music to me signifies a place where people with all opinions can come together and share a special connection with each other, as well as a place to express culture and feelings,” said Freed.
