“Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” Gives Fans Short but Sweet Content

“Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi” delivers short yet entertaining episodes about the lives and adventures of Jedi throughout the prequel era. These six animated episodes tell different stories on the journeys of two Jedi specifically; Count Dooku, the Sith Lord who is one of the main antagonists in the popular series “The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Episode II- Attack of the Clones,” and Ahsoka Tano, the padawan of Anakin Skywalker and main protagonist in "The Clone Wars," who also appears in “The Mandalorian.”

The show gives glimpses of various events in these characters’ lives, providing greater background on how and why they turned out to be the characters Star Wars fans know them to be. In episodes two, three, and four of the series, we get a glimpse of Dooku’s life during his time as a Jedi and what led him to abandon his teachings and join the Dark side. In episodes one, five, and six, viewers are given insight into the life of Ahsoka Tano and what shaped her to be a top Jedi warrior.

Overall, “Tales of the Jedi” has engaging storylines that expand “Star Wars” lore. Fans of “The Clone Wars” will be pleased to see that “Tales of the Jedi” uses the same animation style, a type of CGI animation that gives it an appealing appearance. The animation is easy on the eyes with clear details while not being overstimulating. It is simple, yet colorful and full of life. The soundtrack, composed by Kevin Kiner, brings emotion and creates an immersive experience.

With only six episodes spanning about 12 minutes long, some might complain about the short length of this show. However, this length is understandable. The point of “Tales of the Jedi” is to portray moments in Ahsoka's and Count Dooku's lives, developing their characters rather than to give fans a complex new plot line. The series delivers well. We see Dooku in situations that lead him to question his loyalty as a Jedi to the Senate, and how he begins to seek the Sith way in order to achieve the balance and order that he believed the Jedi were failing in. We also get to see the training and upbringing that lead to Ahsoka surviving Order 66 and joining the fight against the Empire.

While this short series isn't geared towards those who aren't familiar with the Star Wars universe, it's perfect for fans who may want a little more lore and content, but don't have time to watch hours on end of episodes. Star Wars “Tales of the Jedi” brings a little more life and character to the story and characters we all love.
