MountainCon, Watauga's ComicCon, Held Saturday, March 11

Costumes are encouraged at comic conventions. Last year's costumes were a hit with participants.

On Saturday, March 11, MountainCon will be held in the library at Watauga High School. MountainCon is a convention focused around the fantastic ideas of comic books, pop culture, and manga. Event host and coordinator Dana Lowery made sure that there will be a plethora of experiences for everyone to enjoy.

“I love providing that space for fans to gather together and not only give this opportunity to students in the Watauga District but also to the Watauga community,” said Lowery.

To boost the vendor population at this year's event, Adam Pyles of Hardin Park Elementary School took charge of contacting more vendors.

“This year, I contacted as many comic vendors as I could to get as many there as possible,“ said Pyles.

With support from both Lowery and Pyles, this year’s MountainCon is guaranteed to be an enjoyable event.

“We have over 40 vendors this year bringing a variety of goods," said Lowery. "Some of those include comic books, retro video games, stickers, jewelry, original artwork, paranormal podcast, action figures, fairy houses, dog treats, costume props and accessories, resin art, patches, candles, t-shirts, handmade jewelry, tumblers, Dungeons and Dragon dice, and tabletop gaming merchandise. And that is just a short list!”
