Jackson’s Corner Issue #2: Bears, Snooze Buttons, and Houses that Eat

Jackson's Corner is a place to get questionable, unscientific, and clearly silly advice. If you'd like your question to appear in Jackson's column, please email: stumba@wataugaschools.org.

Do polar bears stick to other polar bears?- Joey Veno

Stupendous question Joey! Scientists have spent years attempting to stick polar bears to one another, but unfortunately polar bears are quite violent and most researchers attempting to test this are promptly eviscerated. I would posit, however, that the reason polar bears live at the North Pole is probably because they are magnetic and naturally drawn there, which means yes, they would stick to each other.

How many times is too many to hit the snooze button?- Amelie Fawson

Amelie, that's a good question. I would say that really the answer varies from person to person. As a general rule I would say that any amount of times is too many. You should really just get up when your alarm goes off.

When you're walking into a house, wouldn't that mean the house is eating you and you're living in its stomach?- Erilyn Robinson

Fantastic and incredibly upsetting to think about question, Erilyn! I would say that in general the answer to that is no. Most houses lack a mouth, esophagus, stomach and/or the various body parts an entity requires to eat something, but instead usually just have doors, hallways and/or rooms. If for some reason your house does have the components of a digestive system I would recommend consulting your local authorities because that is abnormal.
