The portions at Taqueria El Paso are ample and the food is served quickly.
Best Mexican Restaurant In Town?
It’s no secret that Boone has an abundance of Mexican restaurants. From one place to another, there seems to be very little difference. To single out the specialties of Mexican cuisine, I went to the highest-rated Mexican restaurant in Boone: Taqueria El Paso.
Menu Options
Taqueria El Paso’s menu has a variety of traditional options such as tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. You can also choose from many different types of dips or salsas on the menu as an appetizer (Yes, the chips are free).
The most expensive thing you can order is El Nevado ($21.99), which is a plate of carnitas that has chicken, sausage, onions, and peppers. The most expensive dip would be the bean dip at $8.99. During their lunch hours from Monday-Friday, you can get a lunch combination of basic orders such as the Lunch Special #5 ($6.99) which is one taco, one burrito, and Mexican red rice.
Opinion Of The Food
When you first walk into Taqueria El Paso you are greeted with great enthusiasm. This made the environment of the restaurant very enjoyable. I started my order with regular salsa and bean dip but unfortunately, I was given cheese dip instead of bean. This mistake did not affect my opinion of the meal and the cheese dip was very good!
For my entrees, I ordered the Burrito Asada ($11.49) and the Quesadilla De Pollo ($9.99). The Burrito Asada is filled with onions, rice, steak, and cheese. While the burrito was great, I wish there was not as much cheese spread over the top. This made the burrito very soggy. Nevertheless, it was a great dish.
The burrito had good flavor but perhaps too much cheese.
I then tried the Quesadilla which had fresh grilled chicken, cheese, red rice, and beans. There was also a large amount of cheese inside the quesadilla but it blended very well with the chicken and was absorbed by the tortilla. The beans and rice as a side were very nice and can be mixed well with the quesadilla. I asked my waitress what her favorite meal on the menu was and she recommended the Cubana Torta ($14.49). This entree is a sandwich of grilled ham, breaded steak, chicken, and pork.
Overall Thoughts
My experience at Taqueria El Paso was very positive and I would recommend it to my friends over other Mexican restaurant options in Boone. The variety of food is broad and it allows you to choose what you would like. You can expect great service and a great atmosphere of authentic Mexican food at Taqueria El Paso.
