Focusing on the Good of the Community: A Review of Common Good

Common Good is a local store focused on interior design, and Boone artists and their work. They have two locations, one in Boone and the other in Blowing Rock. At the Boone store, there are two levels and they have an in-store café so you can have a delightful drink with your shopping experience.

As soon as you walk in, you are warmly greeted by the employees. The store is filled with neutral colors and is organized. The first level of Common Good is packed with posters, silverware, dishes, soaps, kitchenware, and handmade mugs from local artists. Common Good mostly carries sustainable brands to help protect the environment. One brand the store has, The Girlfriend Collective, is an athletic brand made 79% of recycled plastic water bottles. All of the candles that Common Good sells are made from natural and organic ingredients, and other products are also made sustainably.

Merchandise that Common Good sells includes mugs, pillows, and kitchenware.

The second level of the store is focused on the local artists in the community. As you walk up the stairs you are immersed in paintings of flowers, people, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The paintings are all handmade by artists in the High Country, and all of the art in store is available to purchase. If you are interested in selling your work at Common Good, you can apply on their website.

Some of the art the store sells is made by Chloe Purpeo Johnson.

Besides just being a store, Common Good also has an interior design service, Common Good Interiors. They specialize in renovating or building your home from the ground up. They are based in the high country and are willing to decorate your home. So, if you like the vibe of Common Good, and are looking for an interior design service, I would recommend them.

I think that Common Good is a great place to find little things to decorate your home, or just to go get a coffee. The employees are friendly, and offer to help you find anything you might need. The store is organized and has a nice "clean line'' vibe. I had a very pleasant experience here.

I would recommend this store to anyone who wants art, furniture, or goods to spruce up their home. If you are interested in learning more about the store or want to apply to sell art, you can visit their website, www.shopcommongood.com/.
