Day 2: "Krampus" a poem by Nathaniel Stelchook-Gray

Splish

Splash

Snow the color of dirt falls onto the floor You take your boots off, shutting the front door behind you Click

You see the clock on the wall, it reads 12:00 AM Maybe you worked a bit too much over-time

Tik

Tok

The living room has a chilly feel

Though there's a blazing fire in the fireplace Crack Pop

Your bedroom is dark and dim The bedsheets have a metallic smell Swish

Eyes drift slightly closed A loud bang echoes throughout the house Bang

Fight, flight, faun, or freeze You freeze Step

Step

There’s a shadow at the end of the hall

Is it Santa? Crack

Santa doesn’t have horns

He doesn’t break into people’s homes Click

Clack

The figure steps towards you

It’s Krampus

So lock your doors

Seal your windows

Be good this year

And Krampus won’t get you
