Cocoon
Waking up feeling despair, sorrow, self-consciousness.
The smell of cinnamon buns rushes through the house.
“I’m alone, I have no one, I have been betrayed”
Tears make an ocean in the bed.
Happiness has been drained into the others around.
“Help me, Take the pain away”
Her mother tried to comfort her, to help this caterpillar out.
Staying tucked in the cocoon of her room is where she lay.
She felt most safe there.
“I can’t leave, I’m scared, I feel trapped”
Her mother realized how secluded she had been.
Mother brings her food and water every day.
The girl hears the words they say in her head.
“You are fake, You can’t do it, You’re ugly, You aren’t worth it”
She just wants to be alone.
Soon the people leave her life.
She feels like she is breaking out of her shell.
A weight was lifted off her shoulders.
She felt light and free and beautiful.
She came out of her cocoon as her mother says.
Her mother was proud of the person she had become.
She flew into the distance showing her beauty and worth to everyone.
