Chick-fil-A Menu Release Offers a Fresh Start for Spring

Chick-fil-A shook the internet with their return of the BBQ Bacon Sandwich, which was released on March 6, alongside a new Pineapple Dragon Fruit drink. The drink was offered as a lemonade, frosted lemonade, iced tea, and Sunjoy. The sandwich and drink were met with both enthusiasm and criticism. Fans of Chick-fil-A had harsh comparisons between the new sandwich and drink versus their favorite items on the menu.

Caroline Strickler, freshman, was a fan of the new drink, but didn’t fully enjoy the flavor.

“I really loved it. It was really good, but it was a little sour,” Strickler said.

The drink was met with a similar reaction online. Fans of Chick-fil-A were impressed with the many variations in which they could order the drink. 

Similar to Strickler, Mollie Hopper raved about the new drink.

“It was really good, I liked it a lot,” she said. 

While there were many fans of the new drink, some people had an opposite opinion. The drink was met with less enthusiasm from English teacher, Mrs. Grogan. She was not excited about the changes and additions to the menu this spring and felt the drink was not in line with the typical quality of Chick-fil-A’s products. 

“I would not try that. I’ve never tried it, but it sounds awful to me. I’m not a fan of the seasonal menu changes," said Grogan. "I’m a classic girl and none of them sound great to me."

Changing the menu is always a risk for restaurants to take, especially ones with the fan base that Chick-fil-A has. The gamble of changing the menu is something which Strickler appreciates about the restaurant.

“I like it because then you get something new, and if you really like something new, then you can figure out how to make it yourself,” said Strickler.

In the case of Caroline Strickler, she has found ways to combine Chick-fil-A’s signature sauce with honey mustard to create the perfect flavor for chicken nuggets.

“I get a box of grilled chicken nuggets, and then I get a pack of Chick-fil-A sauce and two packs of honey mustard.” she said, “Then you put both in with the nuggets and fries, and shake it up.”

Mrs. Grogan has an alternate opinion on which meal is the best. She much prefers their chicken tenders over the nuggets. She is a big fan of their breakfast meals, especially the egg white grill.

“If I could change anything about the menu, I’d have breakfast all day,” said Grogan.

While most people focus on the meals at restaurants, Mrs. Grogan is more focused on the drinks. 

“My favorite thing is their frosted lemonade and sweet tea,” she said.

Hopper is also a big fan of breakfast and would add some of the breakfast foods to Chick-fil-A’s lunch menu. 

“I would add a chicken sandwich, at lunchtime, with the breakfast chicken biscuit chicken on it,” Hopper said. 

While Chick-fil-A is a popular spot across all ages, they still have to put in work to have a successful menu throughout the year.
