Becken Sauthoff sings with members of Chamber Choir at the Kaleidescope Concert.
Brecken Sauthoff is a junior at Watauga High School and has been part of the choir since her freshman year. She has participated in Mixed Choir, Chamber Choir, and is currently part of the Treble Choir and Audiovox.
“I started doing choir in middle school and I think that growing up doing theater is what helped me realize how much I love singing,” said Sauthoff.
As Sauthoff became more focused on performing arts, it was only natural to find a way to focus her talent.
“I started doing choir because I wanted to be a better singer and loved being able to sing with others,” said Sauthoff. “ I love the community I have in choir because everyone loves being there and singing together and that’s what makes it so rewarding.”
Sauthoff talks about the choir teacher, Mr. Lancaster, and how he makes the classroom such an inviting environment where students aren’t afraid to make mistakes.
“I think that music connects people and firms because we are all working together towards a common goal,” said Sauthoff. “For me music gives me the opportunity to do something that I love and grow my skills.”
While Sauthoff states that she doesn't plan on pursuing a career in music, she still hopes to join some form of choir group when she goes to college and continue singing.
“Music is so important to me and it will always be a part of my life in some capacity,” said Sauthoff.
