Anasofia Salinas first stepped into the world of dance began at the young age of three. Since that day, she has taken leaps into an impressive dance career that spans from the Atlanta Ballet to the Watauga High School Pacers. For Salinas, dance is far more than sport. It is an art form that can upstage words.
"Dance has given me an outlet for creativity by allowing me to express my feelings and emotions as well as tell stories through movement," said Salinas. "Through dance I have learned to deal with my emotions and communicate my feelings in situations where words would not suffice."
Throughout her many years dancing competitively, Anasofia Salinas has grown to love many things about dance. To her, the most beautiful aspect of her sport is the dance community she has become a part of.
"The thing I love most about dance is the amazing people I have met through it," said Salinas. "The dance industry is one of the most connected worlds and through my involvement I have had the opportunity to meet so many friends and role models."
The dance community has not only given her an opportunity to meet new people, but also brings a positive atmosphere to the studio.
"Dancers are the most supportive and uplifting people which creates an atmosphere of motivation for me," said Salinas.
Looking forward, Salinas will continue to be involved in dance and the dance community she loves but does not plan to pursue a professional dance career.
"While I am not interested in becoming a professional dancer, I would love to continue my dance career as a hobby," said Salinas. "I am hoping to have the opportunity to dance in college whether that means minoring in dance or being on a dance team."
